Visual Architecture Editing
Make architectural decisions directly in your workspace.
The SPECTRALE workspace provides an interactive representation of your software architecture.
With Edit Mode, you can prepare changes visually while keeping them separate from the architecture currently discovered in your environment.
View Mode and Edit Mode
View Mode
View Mode is designed for exploring and understanding the existing architecture.
Inspect components, relationships, and available technical information without modifying the architecture draft.
Edit Mode
Edit Mode allows Architect users to prepare changes.
Depending on the supported component type and available editing actions, you can:
- Add architecture components
- Modify component properties
- Create and remove connections
- Change dependencies
- Organize components spatially
- Prepare structural changes for deployment
Edits are represented as a draft until they are submitted for deployment.
Working with architecture components
Components represent technical resources such as applications, backend services, databases, storage systems, queues, and APIs.
Select a component to inspect available actions.
When editing, choose the appropriate operation and update the architecture model.
Available operations may vary depending on the component type and current implementation support.
Editing connections
Connections describe relationships between architecture components.
For example, an application may depend on a database, or a backend service may communicate with an external API.
In Edit Mode, supported connection operations allow you to modify the intended architecture.
These changes become part of the architecture draft.
Drafts and existing infrastructure
An architecture draft represents intended changes.
It is not evidence that the underlying infrastructure has already changed.
This distinction allows users to review architectural decisions before an AI agent attempts implementation.
Layout changes versus deployment changes
Moving a component to a different visual position changes the presentation of the architecture.
It does not necessarily change the technical system.
SPECTRALE distinguishes visual layout changes from semantic architecture changes.
Under the current token model, layout-only changes do not consume deployment tokens.
Starting from an empty workspace
An empty discovered architecture does not prevent Architect users from preparing a new architecture draft.
Users can add supported components and relationships directly in the workspace.
Whether those components can be implemented in a real environment depends on the selected agent, available tools, permissions, and deployment context.
Next step
When your architecture draft contains changes that require implementation, continue with Deploy on Agent.
The same project workspace is where Guardian answers questions, Fleet tracks connected agents, and Collab shares access with your team.
