Connect an AI Agent
How to authorize SPECTRALE Agent Gateway access and connect a compatible remote MCP client.
Bring SPECTRALE context into your AI workflow.
SPECTRALE's Agent Gateway provides the interface for managing AI access to project architecture.
The intended connection workflow consists of three steps.
Step 1 — Select your project
Open SPECTRALE and navigate to the MCP area.
Choose the project or projects whose architectural context should be accessible to your AI client.
Step 2 — Authorize your agent
Create or authorize an agent connection.
Review the projects and tools that the connection may access.
Access should be limited to the information needed for the intended workflow.
Step 3 — Connect your MCP client
Configure your compatible MCP client using the connection details provided by SPECTRALE.
Once authentication and protocol negotiation succeed, the client can discover the available tools.
Remote MCP endpoint
SPECTRALE uses a remote MCP server architecture.
A remote endpoint allows compatible clients to communicate with the service without requiring a local SPECTRALE server installation.
Obtain the endpoint URL and supported authentication method from the SPECTRALE application Agent Gateway. Do not reuse staging or example hostnames as production configuration.
Example configuration shape
The following illustrates the shape of a remote MCP client configuration. It is not a verified, copy-ready configuration for a specific client.
{
"mcpServers": {
"spectrale": {
"url": "https://<your-mcp-endpoint>/mcp"
}
}
}Client configuration formats differ. Consult your client's documentation for the exact settings.
Authentication
SPECTRALE's Agent Gateway is designed around authenticated, project-scoped access.
A connection should only be able to invoke tools and access projects explicitly authorized for that connection.
Compatible remote clients authenticate against the SPECTRALE MCP resource using the authorization method exposed by your workspace. Authorization is project-scoped and tool-scoped; an agent does not automatically receive access to every project in an organization.
Exact client setup steps vary by MCP client. Use the details shown in SPECTRALE for your environment, and verify that your client supports the advertised transport and authentication flow before relying on the connection in production workflows.
Troubleshooting
The MCP server cannot be reached
Verify the endpoint URL, network connectivity, and service availability.
Authentication fails
Check whether the connection is authorized, whether the credentials remain valid, and whether the client supports the configured authentication flow.
No tools appear
Confirm that MCP initialization succeeded and that the connection has permission to use the expected tools.
A project is missing
Check the project's authorization scope. An agent should not automatically see every project in an organization.
A tool returns an authorization error
The connection may lack permission for that tool or project, or its authorization may have expired or been revoked.
